Vintage Ercol Child's Chair

£54 from Winter's Moon The slightly larger version of the classic Ercol kids 'blue spot' chair. The wood is a lovely mellow colour, evenly prescuffed and worn. It is structurally sound and has that lovely air of having survived lots of children already and ready to take on a few more. You can snap this up at Winter's Moon for £54

Push In

Push In... Big thanks to Matt over at Slugs & Snails photography for giving us the heads up about Push In. The idea is to understand whether a bar stool can still work on sand ... actually it's a lot deeper than that, I suggest you pop over to Industrial Design Served to understand it. I warn you now though, you can loose hours browsing that site! ps. I highly recommend Slugs & Snails and Matt's other photography... check MattWreford.net out too!

Spun from Magis

Spun from Magis Thomas Heatherwick has produced a startling twist on conventional furniture design with the Spun Chair. Made from a single profile rotated through 360 degrees the aptly named 'Spun' transforms the domestic seat into a beautifully rendered spinning top. When upright Spun is a sculptural vessel and it is only when it is lent on its side that the full possibilities of its form come to light. Spun allows its user to swivel in a circular rocking motion, including being able to rotate in a complete circle. It was launched in 2010. You can snap this up for £323 from Nest . Thanks to Claire over at Cheshire Mum for giving us the heads up on this one. If you've seen or own a chair that you think deserves to be featured, drop us an email to info@chairlover.co.uk

ABChairs. 26 chairs in 10 years

Chair Alphabet There have been many attempts to make an ABC furniture. This one seems to be the longest and the most successful. A project started in 1999 as sketches and paper prototypes has really got into full swing only in 2009 and finally was presented in 2010 on a June 100x Summer Design. Original red color was changed to black and yet the projected is not completed and is still on the run. It's a design project by Roeland Otten. Via Design. Thoughts. Life .

Darwin Chair by Stefan Sagmeister

Darwin Chair by Stefan Sagmeister I am loving the Darwin Chair by Stefan Sagmeister. It utilizes a free swinging structure that includes about 200 sheets of attached prints. As the top sheet gets dirty or tired, the user can simply rip it off thereby transforming the chair’s appearance (and the remaining perforation eventually forms a comfortable head rest). All sheets are printed with intricate patterns abstracting the creation of the universe, making their way through the creation of the world, the beginning of plant, animal and human life, all the way to the digital revolution. Thanks to Claire over at Cheshire Mum for giving us the heads up on this one. If you've seen or own a chair that you think deserves to be featured, drop us an email to info@chairlover.co.uk

Condesa chair by Sentou Edition

Forget the set of drawers, it's the chair we're talking about here, specifically the Condesa chair by Sentou Edition. It's a take on the 'basket' chair common in the 1960s. Which means it's good for in, out or in your conservatory. Three colour options, all selling for £305 . Via Retro to Go .

Ligne Roset Anneau Chair

Anneau is a chair designed by Pierre Paulin from the 2010 Ligne Roset collection. It combines a simple ring base and seat. Anneau is evocative of Paulin’s “fauteuil 780,” also known as “Concorde.” One of his last creations, Anneau redefines the concept of the traditional lounge chair. The webbed suspension on the seat and back lie above a sculptural and sensual cast aluminum base, linked only by a doubled steel ring, resulting in a much lighter, almost ethereal design. It was in homage to this legendary designer, that Ligne Roset re-christened this chair “Anneau,” which means “ring” in French. Cute eh. Via DesignMilk

The Eero Aarnio Ball Chair

This little lady shows us just how cool the Eero Aarnio Ball Chair is. She's rocking that chair at the Sit Down exhibition at the V&A. It's from the 60's and already a modern contemporary classic. Available from DesignShop UK from £6500 but you can get cheaper reproductions, such as the £350 copy from Furnisho . And big thanks to Bambino Goodies for the use of this image. Alma Chairs by Magis

What makes this children’s chair special is the creative solution that Magis designer Javier Mariscal has applied to a structural necessity – instead of the standard geometric ribbing patterns, the Alma Stacking Chair features a patterns of tree branches - with a few birds perched among them to add to the charming effect. It can be stacked up to four high, and is available in four colours to represent the four seasons – green for spring, yellow-orange for summer, brown for autumn, and white for winter. Cute. £31 from Nubie .

League of the Empty Chair

I came across League of the Empty Chair whilst searching for some Vitra Miniatures and quite frankly, it's fabulous. It's a photo group on Flickr that is ' a home for all those pics floating around the Flickrsphere of seemingly misplaced chairs '. They're not interested in just any photo of any chairs, but ones that are empty and/or interestingly out of place. Some of the photos are just beautiful, it reminds me of the chair equivalent of an elephants grave yard. I recommend you grab a cuppa, make yourself comfy and have a flick through the photos. I will be.

eBay Find: 1958 Eames for Hermen Miller Aluchairs

I have just spotted this Aluchair over on eBay. It's only just been listed, so it's up for 1p. The description on eBay should have been expanded but it's actually in our favour it's not been. It's from the late 50's - I'd guess 1958. Actually, I am not even sure why I am sharing this with you. I may just end up owning this one myself!

'Chairs' Business Card Case

I am adding this to my must have list - yes, it's a little geeky but who cares! It's a Business Card Case celebrating the best of Charles & Ray Eames. Just under £30 from Utility Design .

Starck Magic Hole chair

Philippe Starck’s Magic Hole chair, was one of the biggest attraction at the 2010 Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the Milan furniture fair. Created in collaboration with Eugeni Quitllet, comes as chairs of two sizes as well as a sofa. The prototypes on display were a midnight black with a blast of orange filling the hollow armrests – voids intended to be pockets large enough for a magazine or newspaper...
